The 2009 Turbo’s Significance: The 2009 model year marked the end to a wildly important era for the 911 turbo as the 997.1 Turbo remains to be the last 911 Turbo to house the iconic 911 GT1-derived Mezger-designed twin-turbocharged engine in conjunction with a manual transmission! 997.2 Turbos feature an all-new engine, while the 991 and now 992 Turbos are only seen in PDK. Though the latter cars are more dynamic, powerful and are an even more technological tour de force than the 997.1 Turbo, those 911 Turbos are larger in size and don’t feature the sought-after favorable sizing, sensations, and mechanicalness as offered by the 997.1 Turbo.
