The little silver car took clear cues from historic cars like the 356 Speedster, while also showcasing a completely new design language for the brand. Three years later, the first cars rolled off the production line, and what is now one of the brand’s most important models was born.

This example is as timeless as it gets, with a silver exterior and iconic 18-inch twist wheels that in turn hide red brake calipers. Just like its concept, this 986 S is small and pretty in its proportions with soft shapes that extend continuously throughout the body. At the rear, a simple ‘Boxster S’ emblem is emblazoned above the center-mounted dual-pipe exhaust system. The interior is clearly recognizable from its 996 big brother, with a few differences, of course. The most obvious is probably that the normally five instruments in the 986 are three, with a slimmed-down and partially transparent instrument panel around them.
