This is the fourth and last “Block” pushrod GT Speedster. Carl Block was a Porsche dealer in Oakland California, who ordered four special Speedsters from the factory in 1959. All four Speedsters were among of the last GS/GT ultra light-model production run. Block ordered each car with the 1600 Super pushrod engine (616/2) instead of the complicated four cam unit. He believed he could sell them more easily to SCCA racers because of the lighter weight and simpler service requirements of the pushrod motor. In total, Porsche assembled only seven pushrod GT Speedsters.
