1984 Porsche 911 3.2 – Backdated to 2.7 RS Specification

Built in 2016 from an exemplary 1984 3.2 Coupe with just 95K miles and full service history. This beautiful re-creation of the iconic 2.7 RS has been stripped and rebuilt by 911 Rennsport, renown globally for their high end bespoke backdates and custom 911 builds. Although not a full blown Rennsport custom car, (ie still retaining the original 3.2 engine and running gear) the work has been carried out to a high standard, including new steel wings, lightweight front and rear bumpers, lightweight ducktail, a full colour change inside and out to Grand Prix White, updated suspension to fast road spec with full geo setup, all brakes and wheel bearings replaced, engine fully serviced, detailed with many parts replaced and leak down test performed. The 915 gearbox was also refreshed with a Wevo short shifter and coupling fitted. The exhaust system has been upgraded to SSI style heat exchangers and Le Mans back box, resulting in a raw, very satisfying soundtrack. This combined with the induction kit means the car breathes a lot easier and actually drives more like a carburettor car, with more responsive throttle and improved performance.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

Polished door frames and window trims have been fitted, along with triple chrome plated door handles, single Durrant wing mirror, new period headlights and correct black horn grills. The interior features Cobra RS Touring seats and RS style door cards, re trimmed in high quality heavyweight Cornish Hunting Tartan from Lochcarron of Scotland, at great expense to the last owner. A light weight salt and pepper carpet set has been fitted, along with Wevo door pulls, wooden gear knob and a Momo Prototipo steering wheel with leather Porsche centre to complete the look. On top of this, the car is now on a period number plate (L Reg) and comes with period tool kit, spare and jack. A large folder is present documenting the service history along with photos of the work undertaken at 911 Rennsport, original photos of the car as it was and the original stamped service book and manual. The car has been serviced by Porsche Porsche Hatfield (Classic centre) in recent years, with the most recent major service in October 2020. Two independent valuations of £80,000 and £85,000 respectively are also on file. The car is an absolute blast to drive, feeling very tight and responsive with an epic exhaust note. Everything works as it should including the electric windows and sunroof which have been retained, as well as the blower / heater. The car is HPI clear and will be supplied with a new MOT. Overall a well executed backdate, offering great fun and the sought after look of the RS, without the high price tag of an original. A fun, usable classic that won’t disappoint!
