Porsche 356 B 1600 Super Roadster

The matching-numbers engine was completely disassembled, and the major components were sent to Engine Machine Service (EMS) to have their respective overhauls performed. A multitude of machine work was performed, including a complete resurface to the heads, soda blast and resurfacing of the case, rebalancing the crankshaft, and many other items. Upon return of the components, the engine was reassembled and prepared for installation. The matching numbers gearbox was overhauled by Scott’s Porsche Parts at the cost of just over $7,000. The car completed re-assembly and was delivered to the then-current owner in 2017.

The car then changed hands only several months ago in 2021 and was acquired by a CPR Client. Shortly after purchasing the car, we had another Porsche become available that the client decided to buy. Not needing multiple 356s, the client elected to send the vehicle to us to be offered for sale.

Upon arrival to CPR, the car was found to be in excellent overall condition, only needing minor items to be elevated to our standards. Items like the horn button were replaced due to a crack. The car arrived with incorrect spark plug wires and incorrect finishes on the engine plating that is currently being corrected to factory standards.

Mechanically, the car is outstanding. It starts effortlessly, whether warm or cold, makes excellent power, and shifts through all gears smoothly with properly adjusted linkage and clutch. The suspension and braking systems were completely overhauled during the restoration and provide exceptional stopping power with properly adjusted wheel cylinders and resurfaced drums.

The Twin Grille Roadster was only built during the 1962 model year. Only 248 examples were produced, of which far fewer examples still exist today. This Twin Grille offers the perfect opportunity for someone who would like to own a Twin Grille and still be able to drive the car with confidence and much enjoyment. We grade this car as a very high-quality street-level restoration. It is the perfect example to drive on weekends and in events and will still perform very well if the new owner would like to show it at a PCA or other concours event. Don’t miss this lovely Roadster.
