In the back, making it’s sweet flat six song is the original matching numbers 2.2 combined with a 901 dogleg 5 speed transmission. It runs on carburettors and therefore sounds great when you ask for more. The engine is listed at 142 bhp and is more responsive than you may imagine – spec shows a 128 mph top speed. Remember that since the 70’s, 911 got heavier and heavier, this is probably not even 1100kg.

On the road it is smiles all round. Responsive, light, and eager to please, whilst attracting positive interest throughout a journey. It’s how it makes you feel that’s special, that’s the real value.

This is not so much a fully restored example, rather more unusual than that. It’s a strong early 911, that’s been repainted well and has stood the test of time. It is set to surprise those of you that have been disappointed by the more average examples.
