1985 Porsche (911) 930 Turbo 3.3 for sale!

You have sporty, blood-curdling fast, dangerously tasty and only then comes the Porsche 930 Turbo – nickname: widowmaker. In fact, this classic Elfer is as desirable as it is infamous, because it is precisely this tension of balancing between grip and no grip that provides the addictive adrenaline rush on board the primal Turbo. After a brisk ride, everyone will confess to sweating in places they didn’t know they could. You have to pay something for it … This example is sublimely composed, is in excellent condition (a lot has been done technically recently) and the complete history is included – including matching numbers! In total, this Porsche 911 Turbo had to survive only 3 owners. Or is it exactly the other way around? Discover it at Prins.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

Before we could welcome the 930 Turbo in the Netherlands, it visited our southern neighbors: in 1996 the blown Porsche classic came into the hands of a Belgian, who in turn bought the car from a Luxembourger to which the 911 was delivered new in 1985. If this upward geographic line continues, the next owner should be a German or Dane. At Prins we don’t exclude anything, but secretly we hope to see the 1st generation Porsche 911 Turbo regularly in the Dutch streets in the near future. Not least because the overall condition is very good. The matching numbers prove the originality, the original booklets show the solid service history. Recent maintenance invoices (April 2022) explain the gearbox overhaul + new rear brake discs.

And the optical condition is also worth it to say the least. The beautiful Meteor Gray Metallic body is completely original in terms of tint. The paint itself was completely redone in 2017. A few black accents make the elegant color scheme even more elegant. But for the rest, the Porsche 930 Turbo is especially very brutal. That raised „whale tail“ at the back, for example, is more than just a huge spoiler. It is popularly referred to as a „tea tray“ and in terms of size it would indeed serve well as a side table. The fact is, however, that Porsche needed the space underneath for the installation of an intercooler. In short, form follows function. Other characteristics are in the form of the well-known Fuchs wheels, in this case in 16 inch format. We also know the headlight cleaners from other Elfers.

Another great option is the electric sunroof. This is where you get the most from the Porsche interior, so let’s focus on that for now: the brown Burgundy leather provides a surprisingly warm welcome for a car with such a chilly nickname. The electric seat adjustment also betrays nothing of his killer instinct. Another option aimed at comfort is the electric window control. The dashboard and steering wheel are finished in the same tasteful brown shade as the leather seats. The design is fairly minimalistic, as we know from earlier Porsche 911 icons. The analog instruments arranged in a row of 5 subtly reveal something about the dangerously fast talents of this 911 Turbo. More people seem to be interested in this. And that’s why it’s a good thing that Porsche installed an alarm system, just in case…

Technique & performance

Experienced drivers will be extra triggered when experiencing the 300 horsepower powerhouse. In the back is a 6-cylinder boxer engine with a capacity of 3.3 liters. Blown away of course, otherwise the Porsche 930 Turbo would not live up to its name. If you operate the manual gearbox perfectly, 5.4 seconds is enough to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint. The classic 911 Turbo races through to a top speed of 260 km/h; values that wouldn’t be out of place on modern sports cars. Don’t forget: this model was already launched in 1975! However, what modern speed wonders can suck at is the driving experience. All power is sent to the rear axle, which automatically makes the Porsche erratic as soon as the limit is reached. Nicknamed „widowmaker“ the Elfer owes its unforgiving nature once the rear comes around the corner. It takes more than a few quick hands to keep the primal Turbo in check. Playing with the gas is more a must than pure entertainment to ‚place‘ this Porsche 911 in fast corners as well as possible. Who dares?
