Our Porsche 930 Turbo Cabriolet is one that has a great story to tell.
The story began in 1987 when Porsche wanted to leave a big impression for the launch of the 911 speedster at the IAA Frankfurt Show. They built some Fantastic pre-production prototypes to introduce that year’s novelties to the general public. A few carefully selected cars including this Porsche 930 Turbo Cabriolet were taken off the production line and transferred to the special department within Porsche called „Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. To steal the show as the first convertible variant of the Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe she was fitted with her stunning (paint to sample) Pearlescent gold paint, a one-off color to sample light gray interior, air conditioning and an electric convertible roof. All perfectly demonstrable in the incredible history with the car including the certificate of authenticity, numerous photos, floor plans and snippets of when the Porsche was at the show in 1987 and multiple magazines telling the story of this Porsche which along with the original booklets were all carefully kept in a thick folder.
She underwent a full restoration at Cranford Classics in 2013 and is therefore in absolute mint condition. It goes without saying that for cars with such an exceptional history as this, no expense was spared to restore them exactly to original specifications. No detail was overlooked. Every part was carefully stripped, inspected and where necessary replaced with original Porsche parts. The engine and transmission were also completely stripped for inspection and are in top condition. Just like the convertible roof that was rebuilt with correct materials and according to exactly the same color.
Today, this unique Porsche 930 Convertible is still showing off its beautiful configuration as when it stole many hearts at the 1987 IAA Frankfurt show, fully matching numbers and colors, still the original interior in perfect condition and even the original spare wheel and toolset are still present. The bodywork is in exceptionally well cared for condition and perfectly reflects the condition of the underside.
The car runs and drives exceptionally well. The perfectly tuned 3.3 Flat-six engine with only 74,000 kilometers on the odometer starts easily and the clutch lets the factory 4-speed transmission do its job just fine, making both up and down shifts easy and extremely smooth and making this car easily drivable for any driver.
