This example received a detailed restoration by Euro Autowerks in Grand Rapids Michigan. The car arrived for restoration having been color changed to Burgundy at some point in its life. Euro Autowerks then completely disassembled the car and stripped the tub and body panels to bare metal. Metalwork was performed as necessary including the replacement of the floors on the driver’s side. Following metal, the car was placed in heavy primer and thoroughly blocked to ensure straight bodywork and proper panel fitment. Following preparation, the car was painted in single-stage paint in its original shade of light ivory.
The engine and gearbox received their respective overhauls, and the car was reassembled with all-new rubbers and gaskets. The interior was completely restored and finished in its correct beige leatherette. Trim was replaced or restored as needed and the result is a lovely 912 with excellent paint, a beautiful interior, and a car that performs as good as it looks. The restoration was documented through a set of 300 photos and will be included in the sale, along with the restoration documentation from Euro Autowerks.
The Porsche 912s from 1965-1969 still offer an outstanding amount of value for the cost of entry. The 912 provides the lovely aesthetic of an early 911, more than sufficient power for spirited driving, and they are a fraction of the cost of an early 911.
