1989 was a special year for the 944 Turbo, because unlike earlier models, Porsche up-fitted its 1989 cars with the more powerful (250hp) powertrain from the 944 Turbo S. This improved output improved the cars 0-60 time to just 5.5 seconds – an incredible feat for its era. 1989 951’s also benefitted from a strengthened gearbox, standard M030 sport suspension, improved sway bars, a standard LSD, bigger brakes, and unique styling cues compared to earlier models (such as the 16” Turbo ‘Clubsport’ wheels).
