Until 1984, the grueling Paris-Dakar Rally was mainly won by genuine off-road vehicles. That year, René Metge and co-driver Dominique Lemoyne celebrated a remarkable victory in a modified sports car: the 911 Carrera 3.2 4×4, also known as the 953.

To mark the 40th anniversary of this success, the Dakar Junior is being presented here. Based in the UK, Halfscale Cars takes over 100 hours to complete each model. Finished in the famous two-tone "Rothmans" livery, this car with chassis number 911.03 features working headlights, 12-inch wheels, off-road tires, and mud flaps on the exterior. Inside, there are two miniature Connolly leather and houndstooth fabric seats with lap belts. A 400cc engine with 15 hp means the car can reach speeds of up to 80 kph. Independent wishbone suspension, coilover shock absorbers, and five inches of ground clearance allow it to tackle more difficult terrain, while Brembo hydraulic brakes bring it to a halt. The Dakar Junior also features a removable Moto-Lita leather steering wheel and is an incredible off-road toy.
