History:
Launched in 1976, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 occupies a special place in the brand’s history, bridging the gap between the legendary RS and the future SC. It inherited the 3.0-liter engine block from the 911 Turbo (930) with an aluminum crankcase, but without the turbocharger, developing a robust 200 hp.
Produced over a very short period of only two years, it is now a rare collector’s item (2,560 coupes) prized for its lightness and lively engine. It was also the model that introduced the widespread use of zinc for anti-corrosion treatment of the bodywork, a revolution for the longevity of the 911 at the time.
This car was delivered new in France in May 1976. It has an extensive service history dating back to 1987, with invoices totaling over €85,000. It has undergone significant mechanical work in recent years.
This model is in very good overall condition.
The bodywork is in good condition. The alignment and adjustments are good. The brown paintwork is smooth and has a nice shine. There are some defects on the bodywork (see photos). The rims are well preserved but could do with being repainted. The headlight lenses are in good condition.
Inside, the beige seats are new. They were reupholstered in 2018. The dashboard has no defects. The headliner is taut. The steering wheel is very well preserved.
The 3.0 Flat-6 is matching numbers. It starts normally and revs well. In 2018, the engine was rebuilt at 152,000 kilometers with the replacement of pistons, valves, pinions, bearings, and the exhaust. The clutch was also replaced in 2018 and is in very good condition. Originally equipped with a Sportomatic transmission, it now has a 915 5-speed manual transmission. The braking system is new. Gear changes are smooth and pleasant. Handling is very good.
