Model history

With the 911 Carrera 3.2, Porsche launched the final development stage of the classic 911 series in 1984. The vehicles for the US market differed from the European versions in some technical details - in particular due to stricter emissions regulations, which resulted in a lower engine output. For example, the 3.2-liter boxer engine in the US model offered here produced 160 kW (218 hp), while European variants could achieve up to 231 hp.
However, the classic silhouette was retained - either as a Coupé, Cabriolet or Targa. Porsche produced a total of over 76,000 Carrera 3.2s by the time the model was discontinued in 1989, making it one of the most popular models in the air-cooled 911 series to this day.
