A short excerpt from this article regarding the number of units: “The Carrera 3.o was offered on the market between 1975 and 1977. It was built as a sandwich next to the standard 911 and the 911/930 Turbo. During this very short, two-year lifespan, only 3,687 cars were built, a downright tiny number compared to the 58,000 Porsche 911SC and 76,500 Carrera 3.2s. Of these 3687 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0s, 2,564 were delivered as a coupe and only 1,123 as a Targa. In the 1976 model year, 1,093 coupes were built, including 606 with the steering wheel on the left. In the following year there were 896 coupés with the steering wheel on the left. In terms of rarity, the Carrera 3.o definitely doesn't need to shy away from the comparison with the 2.7 RS (1,580 pieces) and the 911 Ur-Turbo (1975-1977) (2,819 pieces).
In addition: In 2018, 277 Carrera 3.o were registered on German roads. The likelihood of encountering a second “sandwich” model on the street is accordingly manageable.
Now to the known history of the offered car. It started almost 15 years ago. Here with us. So: somehow. The current owner of the car came up to us looking for this particular model. Unfortunately, we didn't have one on offer, but we drew his attention to the grandprix-white 911, which was then being offered by a fellow dealer in central Germany. The advertisement in MotorKlassik from 2005 described the car as a 911 Carrera from 1976, according to the advertisement it was a first-hand vehicle in its original condition. For 22,000 euros. In 2005. Yes, those were the days. The prospective customer drove north on our recommendation, looked at the Porsche, got to know or love it and bought it. The first German possession and the move of the car to Swabian were sealed.

More than 20,000 euros have been invested in the Carrera 3.o since 2005 – taking into account the employee discount, if a Porsche center lends a hand. The owner of the car is close to Porsche 🙂 The Carrera logos were attached, the original trunk lid was exchanged for the wing version.
In the meantime it is also clear: The Carrera 3.0 was first delivered in Italy, unfortunately the logbook and checkbook from its Italian time are not available. According to the Italian letter, the 911 had a previous owner, born in 1901. It is transmitted verbally that this very gentleman – who was correspondingly old at the time of purchase – died and that the community of heirs handled the sale of the car to Germany in 2003. We don't know any more about it. The maintenance passport of the 911 starts in 2005, since then all technical work has been properly stamped and noted. The respective invoices are available. The type designation was not corrected until 2018. The Carrera 3.o's were running quite often as the 3.0 SC – based on the chassis number, this correction was made in the autumn of 2018 in letters and notes. At the same time, the first registration was corrected from 1976 to 1977, the breakdown of the chassis number made this possible. Finally, one more important piece of information about the car: It is a matching numbers vehicle.
Today the car is in good overall condition, ready for the next 40 years on the road – as an underdog, between the Carrera 2.7 RS and the 930 Turbo.
