The vehicle in detail

The second generation of Porsches legendary 911 Series – also known as the ”G-Model” – was produced from model year 1974 (following summer vacation 1973) and right until 1989, making this the longest produced generation of the 911 Series. Compared to the “F-Model”  a huge number of improvements were introduced among others due to US Authorities demand of bumpers being able to withstand a collision up to 8kmh (the so called impact bumpers). The innovative solution from Porsche was probably one of the best designed impact bumpers on the market, and the design proved useful until 1989, when the 964 was introduced. During the first years of production all engines had a displacement of 2.687 ccm and were offered in 3 variants. The basis engine producing 150 bhp, the S-model with 175 bhp and Carrera with the 210bhp engine from the famous Carrera RS.

It would be a vast understatement to claim that this car just well maintained and serviced. Between 2013 and 2022 a sum of more than 55k€ was spent on full overhaul of engine and gearbox, service and several other improvements. All properly documented with invoices from well reputed Danish Porsche specialists. Since completion the car has done less than 6000 kilometers, just to ensure all is working properly – and it does indeed. The car was professionally repainted and even the cabin received a major make-over. Please notice the original Recaro seats and matching back seats, all made with matching Pepita pattern. The result is quite satisfying. Driving the car is where you really feel how well the car is set up. The charismatic air-cooled boxer engine pulls nice and evenly, and the 915 box functions well – also at down shifting.

Having enjoyed the car for some nice tours, we conclude that this is a very well sorted and drivers oriented car, which will provide its next owner lots of joy and fun. And considering how all Porsches subsequently became larger and heavier, this fine early G-Model with its narrow body, chrome details and quite small wheels is a great representative of the driving experience, which created the whole 911 mythos.
