Model History
The introduction of the 911S was aimed at establishing Porsche in the sports car segment. First unveiled in Frankfurt at the IAA, the Porsche 911S featured a more powerful 2.0-liter engine producing a powerful 154 hp. Offered as a coupe or Targa, this allowed Porsche to further assert itself in the sports car market. Over the years, the displacement was increased to 2.2 and later to 2.4 liters, so that the 911S, in its most powerful version, produced 190 hp – making it the fastest road car from a German manufacturer at the time.
