The vehicle in detail

Engine No. 6330794

This charming 1973 911 S Targa left the Porsche factory in Stuttgart, Zuffenhausen in May of 1973 finished in uncommon and optional Medium Ivory (132) over an equally rare Brown leather interior destined for the United States. According to a digital copy of its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the car was additionally optioned with tinted glass all around and Dunlop tires.

When new, all 1973 911 S were endowed with the newly released Type 915 five-speed manual transmission, an aerodynamic front spoiler, 6×15 inch forged Fuchs wheels, aluminum front brake calipers, front and rear anti-roll bars, an upgraded front fender oil cooler, enhanced instrumentation, and a leather-covered steering wheel as standard. Above and beyond the enhanced standard and optional features listed above, this well-ordered 911 S was specified as a Targa—just one of 925 for that year—for an additional increase of $800, creating the most expensive 911 of its type available in the United States at $10,860.

Previous research indicates that this 911 S Targa was located in Washington state until approximately 2011 when it was purchased by a Naval Officer stationed in Monterey, California. It is said that it later returned to Washington approximately eight years ago. Completed under prior ownership in March 2024, this 911 S Targa was treated to new CV joint boots, new lower valve covers and gaskets, fresh spark plugs, renewed rear stabilizer bar bushings, installation of a new gravel shield, an oil-and-filter service, new battery, and a new voltage regulator.

Today, the car wears its lovely original Medium Ivory livery paired neatly with the silver Targa bar and beautifully restored Fuchs wheels. Inside, the Brown leather upholstery shows a charming light patina and is joined by a functioning Blaupunkt radio, crack-free dashboard, heater, and coco floormats. With a raspy, metallic mechanically-injected engine note and the ever-popular long-hood styling, 1973 marks the end of a highly collectible era of 911, particularly for a freshly serviced 911 S Targa with its numbers-matching engine in a highly desirable and rare color combination.
