  • Desirable specification!
  • Completely restored!

Our Porsche 911 2.2 T Targa presents itself in exceptional condition thanks to a complete restoration carried out with meticulous attention to preserving its original authenticity. This comprehensive work is supported by an extensive file of invoices and documentation, totaling more than €100,000. The car retains its original 911/03 engine and 901 gearbox—an increasingly rare matching configuration essential for maintaining the model’s historical integrity. It also wears its original color, faithfully restored during the refurbishment, further enhancing its heritage value and desirability among collectors. The Targa format, highly appreciated for its balance between open-air driving and greater rigidity than a traditional cabriolet, elevates the experience of the first-generation 911. The removable roof, perfectly fitted, allows the driver to enjoy the flat-six’s soundtrack while preserving the elegant lines typical of Targa models. On the road, this 2.2 T faithfully reflects the character of the series: a flexible engine, precise carburetion, and a lightweight chassis delivering a lively yet approachable drive. Thanks to the exhaustive restoration, every component—from engine tuning to suspension geometry—recreates the original spirit of the 911. The result is a coherent, reliable, and exceptionally enjoyable car, capable of satisfying both driving enthusiasts and purists seeking historical authenticity. It represents a rare opportunity to acquire a perfectly restored, fully matching example in its most correct and desirable specification.

The vehicle in detail

The first-generation Porsche 911, introduced in 1964, established the technical foundations that would define the entire lineage: a lightweight unibody structure, an air-cooled flat-six engine, torsion-bar suspension, and a distinctive weight distribution dictated by the rear overhang engine layout. Over the years, the 911 gained displacement, rigidity, and efficiency, while preserving an architecture that remained unique in the sports-car world.

In 1970, the range evolved to 2.2 liters, and the 911 2.2 T stood out for its particularly coherent configuration. Its type 911/03 flat-six produced around 125 hp at 5,800 rpm, fed by two Zenith 40 TIN carburetors that provided smooth yet precise throttle response. The increased torque compared with the 2.0 improved drivability, while the five-speed 901 gearbox, with its short, mechanical shift action, made full use of the power band. With a curb weight of roughly 1,020 kg, the 2.2 T benefited from natural agility and predictable handling, less demanding than the sharper E and S versions. Its longer gearing, tolerant carburetion, and mechanical balance made it a 911 perfectly suited to spirited but controlled road use. This very harmony is what gives it today the reputation of being one of the most pleasant and well-rounded of the early 911s.
