Think back to the year 1971, Willy Brandt receives the Nobel Peace Prize, John Lennon releases an anthem with the song "Imagine" that is more valid than ever before and the flower power movement slowly quiets down. Porsche, on the other hand, remained bold and continued to express this in the colors of its 911 vehicles. The 911 T for sale here is no exception as a 2.2 liter Targa, it wears exactly the color Gold-Metallic / Code 8810 that it had received in June 1971 when it was delivered to the first owner in Los Angeles ex works, albeit in a new paint job due to a later restoration (documented on CD) in Germany.
The car comes with matching numbers, the Porsche "certificate" from 2008 and the Porsche "birth certificate", which was also issued by the factory in January 2008. You could hardly wish for a better basis as this rust-free and original Targa, which was imported from the USA in 2007, was restored from 2007 to 2009 and then driven by its owner in northern Germany until the current owner acquired the car in June 2014. (The two Dekra reports from 2009 and 2014 are also available in an extensive folder with all the documents).
In addition to the extensive work already carried out, the new owner took the car to a Porsche specialist in Cologne for an engine overhaul (receipts are available), and all other necessary work was also carried out (new front brakes, etc.).) Porsche had already introduced the "Sportomatic" as an alternative to the classic manual gearbox in 1967 and advertised it in the brochures as a "selective automatic" gearbox, including the following wording: "With the Sportomatic, the driver can still change gear when he wants to and as he is used to, but he doesn't have to use the clutch. Especially not in situations where the driver is forced to keep up with the flow of traffic and shifting gears is not a benefit but becomes a burden in the long run".
The Sportomatic requires some getting used to and a skilled hand, as it is a little bit clunky when cold, which improves as the operating temperature rises, but does not work 100% perfectly. There is room for improvement here, which is the reason for the surprisingly attractive pricing.
We are talking about a wonderfully patinated and completely unscathed 911 Targa, the factory-fitted air conditioning is currently not active, but can be reactivated and fitted for an extra charge, the parts are available if the regular enjoyment with open Targa roof is to be supplemented. The mileage read off the speedometer here has been converted into the KM figure, but after around 53 years there is no guarantee of this, just as the absence of accidents in the USA between 1971 and 2007 can only be assumed. There is a great deal of attention to detail in this vehicle and the car will also give the next owner a great deal of pleasure. We would like to end these lines with a quote from the 70s and are at your disposal for any further questions and the absolute passion for special vehicles: "Keep it Happy"
