2015 Porsche 918 Spyder
The Porsche 918 Spyder was unveiled as a concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, introducing a revolutionary hybrid approach to the supercar world without sacrificing Porsche’s iconic precision and performance. It was launched in 2013 after years of intensive development and its production was limited to just 918 examples worldwide.
At its heart, the masterpiece, a high-revving, naturally aspirated 4.6-litre V8 engine paired to two electric motors, delivering a total power output of 887hp. The highest power-per-litre rating for any naturally aspirated engine in a Porsche. And yet, the lightest V8 engine Porsche ever put into production. It was developed exclusively for the 918 Spyder – by the same engineers who brought the successful RS Spyder onto the racetrack. Delivering intelligent performance, zero-emission driving capability, and exceptional handling thanks to extensive use of lightweight materials and carbon fiber throughout its structure and aerodynamics, the 918 stayed true to Porsche’s DNA.
