Porsche 928
The Porsche 928 is the most significant of the four models known as the Porsche “transaxle,” a combination of the words “transmission” and “axle,” a term that encompasses the Porsches sold between 1976 and 1995, whose mechanical layout was unique in that the engine was positioned longitudinally at the front and the transmission was located on the rear axle, connected by a rigid driveshaft that runs inside a hollow shaft linking both components.
