The Porsche 944 was introduced in 1981 as an independent further development of the 924. With a four-cylinder engine developed by Porsche itself, a balanced transaxle design, and a high level of everyday practicality for a sports car, the 944 quickly established itself as one of the most successful Porsche models of the 1980s.
The S variant represented the sporty evolution of the series. It was equipped with the elaborately designed 2.5-liter four-valve engine, which not only offered noticeably higher performance, but also a more responsive and overall sportier driving experience.
