The Porsche 944 Turbo was introduced in 1985 as the most powerful variant of the 944 series and is today regarded as one of the most exciting transaxle Porsches. With its 2.5-liter turbo engine, 220 hp output (later up to 250 hp) and balanced weight distribution thanks to the transaxle design, it offered exceptional driving dynamics for the 1980s. The 944 Turbo was the first production Porsche with a turbo engine that was tuned for both performance and suitability for everyday use. It combined the reliability and suitability for everyday use of the 924/944 series with the performance of a thoroughbred sports car. The rarer Targa version in particular combines driving pleasure with a touch of convertible feeling and makes this model a coveted collector's item today.
