In addition to its uniquely beautiful bodywork, the "Turbo Look" package had a lot to offer in terms of inner values, giving the factory-built WTL Porsche what was then recognized as the best braking system in the automotive world. What's more, the "WTL" also got the Turbo's chassis...
Having one of the 702 WTL convertibles of the Porsche 964 Carrera 2 type in your garage is certainly not a mistake for any type of user.
Both collectors and drivers of this beauty benefit in every way from what a 964 promises. Over the last few years, it has become one of the most sought-after Porsches from the air-cooled era. Companies such as Singer, Kaege, Ruf, and so on are creating a very tight market because they are actively buying up 964s offered worldwide in order to secure their "backdates" well into the future. Even if not all of the vehicles purchased are suitable for rebuilding by the aforementioned companies, they are still very well suited for a more or less complete restoration back to their original condition, thus ensuring constant work for specialists for years to come. This ongoing shortage due to purchased and stored vehicles will keep the general market for 964s worldwide at a high price level in the long term. In addition, the rebuilt models will only be released into their new life in dribs and drabs, and will very certainly contribute to stable high prices.
The decision to turn a Porsche 964 "inside out" and rebuild it in 2026 has completely different economic consequences than it did, for example, around 15 years ago. Starting with the minimum purchase price of a worthwhile base, which today costs 4 to 5 times what it did not so long ago. This multiplier can also be safely applied to all the necessary spare parts... Without going into detail, one fact remains undisputed: today, a truly good 964 requires sums that reach well into the six-figure range.
The logical consequence of this is that good 964s will remain rare and expensive in the distant future, provided they meet certain requirements. These attributes have always been an important issue, but today they are more important than ever!
What location, location, location means in real estate has the same effect with Porsche – accident-free, origin, history, condition, mileage, model, color combination, number of units built... these are issues that must be taken into account in today's market.
The bitter lesson learned from experience in recent years is that not every 964 is worth the money it costs...
