The Carrera 4 Targa was available exclusively with a manual transmission, and that is precisely what makes this version so exceptional. It is generally believed that only about 37% of all 964 Targas were delivered in the Carrera 4 configuration. In this specific color scheme, this example is therefore a true find and a rare sight on the current market.
The first delivery took place through Porsche Zentrum Zürich in June 1990, giving this car a properly documented Swiss provenance. Naturally, the car still features the original AMAG sticker in the engine compartment as well as the accompanying service booklet—details of great importance to connoisseurs.
Where one often hears “full option,” that is no empty claim with this 964. The option sticker with no fewer than 30 (!) X-codes speaks for itself. It is hard to imagine which options could have been selected as extras at the time. The Sonderwunsch department clearly had a field day with this car. For instance, the car is equipped with coat hooks, an extremely rare detail believed to have been available primarily for the Swiss market—conclusive historical evidence is scarce, but such a configuration is rarely, if ever, encountered.
A few years ago, the car was completely repainted, with the aim of restoring the beautiful Tannengrün metallic to its full glory. This color, which perfectly suits the character of the 964, once again comes into its own with exceptional depth and elegance, underscoring the timeless character of this Porsche.
Visually, this 911 is built entirely from original parts: correct turn signals, mirrors, wheels, exhaust… No aftermarket parts or replicas that detract from its authenticity.
Maintenance was consistently performed up until 2013, after which the car was added to a collection and carefully stored. To restore the car to top technical condition, significant investments were made over the past year. Invoices totaling over €22,000 unequivocally confirm this. Some of the work performed includes: power steering pump, fuel pump, tires, brake rotors and pads, brake lines, overhaul of the 4×4 drivetrain, spark plugs, distributor caps, rotor, fuel injectors, clutch and flywheel, new sound-deadening mat, engine mounts, and a major service.
An exceptionally complete, well-maintained, and rare example of the Porsche 911 (964) Targa, finished in a sublime color combination.
