Model history

The seventh generation of the Porsche 911, known internally as the 991, marked a significant step in the development history of the model series. The 991 was unveiled in September 2011 at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, replacing its predecessor, the 997. In technical terms, the 991 was a completely new development - only the third platform since the launch of the legendary 911 in 1963. Following the debut of the 996 in 1999, the 991 was therefore the second fundamental revision of the 911 format. Production of the model series ended on December 20, 2019. 233,540 units of the 991 were built in total.
