The Porsche 991 GT2 RS Clubsport, unveiled in 2018 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, was produced in a limited run of only 200 cars. Derived from the road-going GT2 RS, it embodies Porsche’s vision of a “turnkey” car intended for amateur drivers competing in private competitions or track days. Positioned at the top of the 911 range in terms of power and radicality, it frees itself from the legal constraints of homologation to become a racing beast, with a wider and lighter body from which every superfluous element has been removed.
Thus, the Clubsport incorporates large air intakes, a ventilated hood, and a resized rear diffuser to improve cooling and aerodynamic downforce. It also features an imposing carbon spoiler, and the 18″ magnesium monobloc wheels with slick tyres replace the 20″ ones. The completely stripped-down cabin abandons all comfort in favor of a racing cockpit with a welded roll cage, a carbon steering wheel inspired by the GT3 R, carbon Recaro seats, an integrated airjack system, and a 115L fuel tank. All these modifications help keep the car’s weight down to 1,390 kg, and assistance systems such as ABS, PSM, and traction control are fully configurable.
The GT2 RS Clubsport features the GT2 RS’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-6, developing 700 hp and 750 Nm of torque, transmitted to the rear wheels via the formidable 7-speed PDK gearbox and a limited-slip differential. It reaches 60 mph even faster than the original GT2 RS. The chassis, lightened and optimized for competition, rests on adjustable McPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. Braking is provided by 390 mm ventilated discs at the front and 380 mm at the rear, with 6 and 4 piston calipers respectively.
