Unveiled in 2015, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS type 991.1 marks a decisive step forward for the GT department in Weissach. Designed as the most radical version of the GT3, it takes the naturally aspirated engine concept to its peak, with a 4.0-liter flat-six delivering 500 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque. Exclusively paired with the PDK dual-clutch transmission, this exceptional powertrain propels the RS from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, for a top speed of 193 mph.
As usual, Porsche has worked extensively on the chassis: wider tracks, rear-wheel steering, specific shock absorbers, and an active differential give it surgical precision. Weight reduction is at the heart of the project, with extensive use of aluminum, magnesium, and carbon fiber, keeping the curb weight down to just 1,420 kg. Aerodynamic downforce is significantly enhanced by the adjustable fixed spoiler, front air intakes, and air extractors above the front fenders, a first for a road-going 911.
Visually, the 991.1 GT3 RS stood out from the moment it was launched with striking new colors such as Ultraviolet and Lava Orange, giving the “standard” configurations of the time a strong identity, while the rare and hard-to-obtain Paint to Sample (PTS) models now enjoy a particularly exclusive status.
With its unique naturally aspirated engine, very high performance, and formidable efficiency on the track, the GT3 RS 991.1 stands out as one of the most desirable Porsches of its generation, combining mechanical purity with cutting-edge technology.
