Within the 993 lineup, the Carrera S (also known as the Carrera 2S) is the version you want. Not because it’s the fastest or rarest version, but because the Carrera S combines the best components. This version features the wide body of the Turbo, but with rear-wheel drive. Moreover, the Carrera S is lighter than a 4S, so it’s also slightly faster.
The 993 Carrera S further distinguishes itself visually with the split and painted air intake on the spoiler. The increased track width and lowered suspension ensure that the Carrera S has slightly better handling than the standard Carrera. The Carrera S was lowered by 10 mm at the front and 20 mm at the rear. Together with the 60 mm wider body, this creates an impressive rear view. Or, to put it more bluntly: a gorgeous rear end. Technical:
The air-cooled flat-six engine from the Carrera S produces 286 hp and 340 Nm of torque. This allows the 993 Carrera S to sprint to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The top speed is 270 km/h. That’s still more than enough to turn heads today!
The Carrera S is a rare car, partly because this version was only in production for two years. Of the 68,029 Porsche 993s built in total, only 3,714 were Carrera S models. This is one of the reasons why it is such a sought-after car. A fraction of those are manual transmission models, which makes this version even more unique.
History:
This 993 rolled off the assembly line in July 1997 and was first registered in Germany in 1997. There, this beauty has had only two owners. The first owner kept it until 2002! The second owner kept the car in her collection until 2025, and following her husband’s passing, she is now selling part of her collection. Unfortunately, the Porsche sustained damage to the right front side in 2009. This was repaired by Porsche Center Würzburg. The owner was so meticulous that she had every part that showed even the slightest issue replaced with new original parts. It is, of course, unfortunate that this happened, but we cannot turn back time. All invoices for this repair and other maintenance invoices are available.
On January 21, Porsche specialist Schmidt Oss conducted a pre-purchase inspection, which confirmed that the car is in 100% condition and that the front-right damage sustained in the past was repaired in a highly professional manner. The 993 drives like a new car and also looks brand new. The Porsche was treated with a glass coating in March 2026.
