The vehicle in detail

The 996 GT3 was the first Porsche roadcar that Manthey-Racing improved through their vast knowledge racing Porsches in professional Motorsports. Manthey had won the class at the 1999 Le Mans 24h with a 996 GT3-R and achieved their first overall victory on home ground at the 24h of the Nurburgring with the now famous yellow-green 996 GT3-MR in 2006.

The Nurburgring winner served our 996.2 GT3 MR as a role model and was completed in 2007 for the first and only owner – a friend of Olaf Manthey – using every Manthey Performance part available at the time.

At the heart of the sits the engine, which was upgraded to the same 3.9 litre capacity as the Nurburging winner. The test bench protocol on file shows a nominal power output of 450 HP and 451 Nm of torque. In combination with the performance optimized engine the car received the Manthey-Racing upgrade for the gearbox to cope with the higher torque level. Additionally the standard GT3 wheels were exchanged with BBS lightweight Magnesium wheels, which were specially produced for Manthey and were amongst the lightest 18-inch wheels at the time. Aerodynamics have been improved through a Manthey developed carbon rear wing and a carbon front splitter. The racing suspension uses KW parts that were specially developed by Manthey-Racing. Additional lightweight measures include a special exhaust system, Manthey-Racing seats and a carbon-kevlar front hood – the original hood is still with the car.
