An elegant, exclusive and radical model from Stuttgart. In the GT3 RS version, the German brand aimed to demonstrate all the technology and expertise of its motorsport department, with road homologation according to FIA regulations for the FIA RSR category.
As if the 996-generation 911 GT3 was not already fast enough, Porsche decided to give the model a final farewell before the introduction of the 997, applying the RS treatment — meaning lightweight construction and pure performance.
With 50 kg less weight than the standard GT3, the GT3 RS uses carbon fiber body components and other lightweight materials to reduce unnecessary mass. The RS version features a reinforced body and improved aerodynamics, including a rear wing designed for demanding corners such as those at Laguna Seca.
Mechanically, it is powered by the renowned 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine, derived from the legendary 911 GT1 Le Mans car. It produces 382 hp at 7,400 rpm and 385 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm, thanks to a nitrided crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, and lightweight forged pistons.
Power is delivered through a 6-speed manual gearbox sourced from the motorsport department rather than the standard 996 range. It also features a limited-slip differential, which is particularly useful given the shorter gear ratios.
This combination of increased power, reduced weight, and optimized aerodynamics (highlighted by the prominent carbon rear spoiler) results in significantly enhanced performance.
