A 2002 Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet is for sale in silver-gray with black leather interior.
Model history
The Porsche 996 marked a fundamental break with the previous 911 tradition from the 1998 model year onwards: it was the first 911 with a water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine, enabling Porsche to meet increased emission and performance requirements. The new engine technology with four-valve technology and DOHC cylinder heads could no longer be implemented with classic air cooling. At the same time, the 996 featured a significantly wider and longer body on a new platform, improving comfort and driving dynamics. The 996 was available in coupé, cabriolet, and Targa body styles, each with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and manual or Tiptronic transmission. In its day, the 996 became the best-selling 911 series, marking a technical and economic turning point in the history of the Porsche 911 model.
