With the introduction of the Mark II Porsche 996, or the Porsche 996.2, a desirable Targa model came available. Equipped with the facelift head- and taillights and the upgraded engine from 3.4 liter to 3.6 liter, now developping 320 horsepower (where it was 300 horsepower in the first generation). Between 1997 and 2006 approximately 175.000 Porsches 911 of the 996 generation have been produced and sold, it’s believed only 5.125 examples were delivered as Targa model.
The Porsche 996 was a huge success for Porsche. To find an original, low mileage, factory paint example today is very difficult!
