Model history
The Porsche 996, introduced in 1998, marked a significant change for the 911 range by switching from an air-cooled to a water-cooled flat-six engine. This enabled it to meet fuel consumption and emissions regulations. The body became larger and more comfortable, with different models such as coupe, targa and cabriolet. Power ranged from 221 kW (300 hp) to 355 kW (483 hp) with turbocharging.
