Porsche 911 (997)
The Porsche 911 or 911 Type 997 is the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 and appeared in dealerships in 2004. It is also the 911 that achieved the greatest success with the public, as by the third quarter of 2007, 100,000 units had been sold. A record for Porsche, explained by the many variants of the 997.
The Carrera and Carrera S Coupés appeared in July 2004, followed a few months later by the cabriolet versions. The four-wheel drive Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S models were launched in November 2005, followed by the open-top 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S. Sportier versions such as the GT3, RS and Turbo appeared in 2006, while the most powerful version, the GT2, only came in 2007. The 997 was offered with two engines: the standard 3.6-liter with 320 hp and the 3.8-liter S with 355 hp.
At the end of 2008, Porsche introduced updates to the 997 range, affecting both design and mechanics: increased engine capacity on certain versions, the introduction of direct fuel injection, and the launch of the new PDK gearbox. From 2009, the Porsche 911 (997) became faster and more fuel efficient.
