The Porsche 997.2 Turbo Cabriolet is the open-top version of the second-generation 997 Turbo. This generation represented a significant update compared to the first 997 Turbo (997.1), with several technical and aesthetic improvements.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six engine with twin turbochargers, producing 500 hp. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 3.7 seconds. Power was transferred to the road via an advanced all-wheel-drive system (Porsche Traction Management, PTM), which provided optimal grip and stability, even in challenging driving conditions.
Compared to the previous 997.1 Turbo, the 997.2 is equipped with direct fuel injection (DFI), resulting in more efficient combustion, increased power, and lower fuel consumption. The 997.2 also features an optimized chassis and improved brakes, including ceramic brake discs as an option.
The convertible version features a power-operated fabric roof that can be opened or closed in 20 seconds, even while driving at speeds of up to 50 km/h (31 mph). This combines the pure driving experience of a convertible with the sporty performance of the Turbo.
Design-wise, the 997.2 Turbo Convertible is recognizable by subtle changes to the headlights, a modified bumper, and wider rear wheel arches. The interior featured high-quality materials and modern technologies, such as an improved PCM infotainment system and optional sport seats with extra support.
In short, the Porsche 997.2 Turbo Cabriolet is a powerful, refined sports car that offers the best of both worlds: the dynamism and performance of the Turbo and the open-air driving pleasure of a convertible.
