The second generation of the all-wheel drive 997 Turbo was an instant hit, and our example will certainly appeal to a buyer who is looking for good investment potential. The new 997 models received a new 6-cylinder, 3.8 litre boxer engine delivering 500hp with revised Borg-Warner (VTG) turbos. Porsche claimed the 911 Turbo travels from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 197 mph though many automotive publications proved that Porsche may have been a little modest in their claims.
The looks of the facelifted model were largely untouched from the original 997 Turbo, but there were changes to the rear lights, which were enhanced to an LED-type, in addition to changes to the front lamps. The Generation 2 cars shed up to 50kg as part of the improvement process, Porsche dialled back the turbo boost pressure a touch for extra driveability and keener throttle response. Porsche also revised the engine mounts that came with the Sports Chrono pack to improve chassis tautness. Most important of all were the changes to the ride, improvements to the spring and damper rates meant this car’s whole attitude to poor road surfaces became far more forgiving.
Our car was supplied new by Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield in January 2010, and is complete with its original driver’s book pack and spare remote key. A full major service including spark plugs, drive belt, transmission oil, brake fluid and new N-rated tyres was done at Porsche specialists in 2025. A 12-month written warranty is also included in the sale.
