This exceptional roadster draws its styling cues from Walter Glockler’s early race cars, which are considered the direct precursors to the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder. The purist body design—without doors and featuring smooth rear fenders—echoes the lines of these early race cars, giving the vehicle a particularly authentic and sporty appearance.
The body is based on a 1971 VW Type 11 platform. A very rare and high-quality Mrotz fiberglass body was mounted on top of it. This body was produced in very limited numbers and is characterized by particularly thick and sturdy fiberglass, making it significantly more robust than many typical kit car bodies.
A special highlight is the installed 1955 Porsche Type 546/2 engine, originally from a Porsche 356. The engine number is documented and listed in the TÜV data sheet. This air-cooled boxer engine, with a displacement of approximately 1.6 liters and Empi carburetors, is considered a classic with a strong character and fits perfectly with the vehicle’s purist racing character.
The roadster is in very good condition and is fully street-legal. A full TÜV inspection in accordance with §21 is available. Additionally, extensive documentation is on hand, including import documents from the USA, customs paperwork, TÜV data sheets, and further proof of technical inspection.
With its light weight, open racing look, and historic Porsche engine, this vehicle offers a very direct and emotional driving experience. At the same time, it is an extraordinary eye-catcher at classic car events, Porsche meets, or historic rallies.
Due to the rare Mrotz body and the unique technical combination, there are likely very few vehicles of this configuration remaining today.
A fascinating vehicle for collectors and enthusiasts of early Porsche racing history.
Since it is strictly a fair-weather car, without a soft top or similar, I would like to trade it for something with a roof.
I’d be happy to discuss further over the phone.
