The pass road over the Gotthard can be described as no less breathtaking. No wonder, as the journey from the canton of Uri to Ticino does not only lead through the wild „Schöllenenschlucht” with its legendary devil’s bridge, up to the pass summit at 2,108 m above sea level and over the cobbled Tremola road with its 24 breathtaking hairpin bends down into Ticino – it is also a journey through more than 800 years of alpine traffic history. And while the cars are jammed in front of the Gotthard tunnel, curve lovers on two or four wheels continue to find their luck in the historic curves and turns of the Gotthard pass, when, like waving skiers, they swing down the slopes or uphill to the rush of the hairpin bends.
