The story of Porsche’s engine mastermind Hans Mezger
Engineers are the fathers (or mothers) of every sports car, but they usually act as quiet heroes in the background. They tinker and design while board members and marketing directors present their babies to the world public. In many cases, the heads of sports car development are hardly known. But there is one engineer whose name makes every Porsche fan sit up and take notice. Hans Mezger, who has shaped the character of the Porsche brand like no other and led to many motorsport successes. In October 1979, Hans Mezger bought a Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 in Grandprix white and kept it for the rest of his life. This Carrera 3.0 was previously used as a test vehicle in Weissach.
