Type 7 Volume Five – the latest volume in the Type 7 book series.
Designed with great attention to detail and carefully curated, the fifth annual edition distils the best of Type 7 in its purest form. It comes in striking, protective mailing packaging with a collage of photographs and artwork from inside the book.
Published in a limited edition, the specially designed cardboard tear-off tab – in the shape of the Type 7 logo – peels away to reveal a striking orange slipcase. Five years of Type 7 are reflected in five individual artworks designed by creatives portrayed in the book:
Brittany Fanning’s distinctive surrealist style features a cat lounging casually on the hood of a Porsche 911; Damon Way, co-founder of DC Shoes, stages a Porsche 944 inspired by Joy Division artwork; a 911 rev limiter jets toward the red zone; Aiden de Cadenet’s inherited Porsche 356 bathes in the Mulholland Drive sunset; and a historic Porsche 911 rally car struggles through a special stage in a period photo. Metallic inks and glued-in special pages run throughout the book, creating an experience that is as surprising as the stories and striking photography within.
Once the slipcase is removed and the book opened, Type 7 Volume Five delves deeper than ever – with portraits of internationally recognized artists such as Keita Morimoto, visionary architecture from the brutalist austerity of Marcel Breuer to the modern minimalism of Not A Hotel, and an exploration of the timeless fascination of automotive design and culture.
