1986 Porsche RUF 3.4 CR
By the mid-1980s, RUF Automobile was beginning to look like the company it is today. Having completed their first modified 911 Turbo in 1977, word of these fantastic automobiles grew, and the introduction of their first non-turbocharged modified Porsche, the SCR, followed suit one year later. While RUF’s turbocharged models remained their halo product, the less costly naturally aspirated cars certainly helped to grow the company’s footprint.
Presented here is one of those early, naturally aspirated RUFs, a 3.4 CR. Boasting a 3.4-litre flat six-cylinder engine, the base 911 was completed by Porsche in December 1985 before being shipped to RUF for subsequent modification shortly thereafter. First registered in Japan in November of 1986 to a leasing company in Osaka, this RUF 3.4 CR has remained in Japan ever since, allegedly having been imported by Japan’s sole RUF distributor at the time, Ishida Engineering.
