Le véhicule en détail

After having spent part of its life in Germany then in the United States, the car underwent a general preservative restoration by the current owner, about ten years ago. Thanks to its versatility, this 911 has been used with pleasure both for travel and for regularity races.

First equipment engine – particularly performing -, correct equipment and options, ASI approval and Porsche certificate of authenticity: a rare example for true Porsche enthusiasts, looking for a reliable and unconventional 911.

Historical Notes:

The « targa » body was named to celebrate Porsche’s victories at the Targa Florio: the rear window was removable and foldable inside the car to be able to enjoy the new Porsche model, with the wind in your hair.

With the targa model presented in September 1965, Porsche was the world’s first manufacturer to mass-produce a convertible with safety bodywork. The structure of the roll-bar to protect the passenger compartment introduced a revolutionary concept in the field of open cars not only for the protection of passengers but also for the various options proposed. There were four configurations proposed by Porsche: Spyder (fully open), Hardtop (fully closed), Voyage (open roof and closed rear window) and Bel Air (closed roof and open rear window). The targa model was introduced in the spring of 1966, available on the 911, 912 and later 911S versions.

The Weber 40 IDA carbs introduced in 1966 finally solved the problems of the previous Solex ones, keeping unchanged the power of 130 hps, paired with the 901 five-speed transmission “dog-leg”, in addition to the notable improvements to solve the problems of youth especially on the suspension setup.
