The 911 SC generation was almost the last generation of 911. Faced with the dissatisfaction of its customers and enthusiasts, Porsche finally decided to keep the car in its catalog, under the impetus of Peter Schutz, and to replace the 3.0 liter SC by a 3.2 from 1983 which will give a new dynamic to the 911 range.

Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1983, the 911 3.2 did not evolve aesthetically compared to the last SC, except for some details. The rims are notably in series the telephone rims in 15 inches, the Fuchs being always proposed in option.

The engine of the Carrera 3.2 had to take into account many constraints, especially in terms of fuel consumption and pollution in order to be marketed on the U.S. market, Porsche’s first market. The block is the aluminum block of the SC is increased to 3 164 cm3 of cylinder capacity, and developing now 231 hp against 204 hp for the latest SC. The K-jetronic is replaced by a new Bosch DME ignition and injection control system.

The gearbox is initially the 915 developed for the 2.4S in 1972. The great evolution of the 3.2 will come from 1987 with the appearance of the G50 gearbox, developed by Getrag, faster and more precise than the 915.
