Ahead introducing a 2.4-litre variant, in 1971 Porsche produced 788 examples of its 911 S in Targa form complete with a removable roof panel. Boasting 2,200-cc, the air-cooled flat-six engine transmitted 180 horsepower to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
The example offered here is believed to have been delivered originally to Italy in April 1971, wearing an Albert Blue exterior. While the car’s early history is not fully known, invoices (available to view on file) record that between 2006 and 2010 the car was serviced and maintained by official Porsche centre Tirelli Motorsport of Turin. Acquired via the August SA dealership in Ohain of Belgium, the Targa has been part of The Curated Collection since June 2015.
Please note that the chassis number appears to have been restamped and a police report investigating this is on file. Presented in a gorgeous hue, this Targa would be ideally suited to touring and competition road rally events for it is equipped with a pair of bucket seats, an OMP steering wheel, timing gear, plus bonnet-mounted spotlights.
