One of only 989 F-series 911 Targas built by Porsche, this car was sold in Italy, July 1972. According to the paperwork the 911 would remain in Italy til 2015 prior to being acquired by its next owner in Belgium. It once changed ownership in Italy around 1994. The owner bought the car with 965km on the odo; which today only shows 2.630km.

In 2014 while still in Italy, the car was restored, including a repaint in its original colour of Sepia Braun. The paint measurements are good all around the car. Engine and gearbox were completely overhauled at this time as well, just as brakes and all suspension parts. The interior looks completely original including carpeting, seats and upholstery.  There are no traces of accidents or repairs. All four wheels were found to be correct and were restored and anodised and fitted with period-correct 185/70-15 Michelin XWX tyres. The chrome and factory-tinted windows were left in their original condition. According to its owner and our inspection, no evidence of rust repairs or prior accident damage could be found.

Acquired by the current owner several years ago, this Targa still presents in excellent condition overall. Providing the benefits of open-air motoring with the security of a closed coupe, early 911 Targas offer the best of both worlds and prove to be eminently usable today—impressive when considering that this example left Stuttgart nearly 50 years ago.

A 1972 911 S Targa is an excellent automobile in every regard, one that combines both performance, practicality, and the thrill of open-air motoring. A wonderful opportunity to own one these highly collectible 2.4-litre Porsche 911s, a car in great condition and a wonderful color scheme.

The car currently has Belgian registration.
