1983 PORSCHE 911 SC CABRIOLET

For the 1978 model year, Porsche introduced the 911 SC (“Super Carrera”) as the successor to the 911 S. While retaining its predecessor’s classic lines, the SC featured wider rear wheels and rear fender flares, enhancing both its stance and handling. Upgraded with a larger 3.0-liter engine, it delivered increased torque and improved performance. In 1983, after an 18-year hiatus from convertible production, Porsche launched the 911 SC Cabriolet – the marque’s first open-top model since the iconic 356.

This 1983 Porsche 911 SC Cabriolet is finished in White with a black top and partial Black leather interior. It features European specifications, including slimmer rear bumperettes, side marker lights, and a high-compression engine rated at 204 hp – 24 hp more than US-market models. Additional features include power windows and upgraded air-conditioning with a rotary compressor. This car is believed by the consignor to have been exported to the US and federalized upon its initial purchase by Jim Watson. A noted figure in the Porsche community, Mr. Watson was a partner at the authorized dealer Continental Cars in Huntsville, Tennessee during the early 1960s as well as an avid collector and skilled racer.
