Why RS60?
A quick look back into motorsport history and you will soon find that Porsche achieved great things on track with its mid-engine RS60, giant slaying performances at events such as Le Mans, Sebring and the Targa Florio during 1960 ensured it has made it’s mark in history. Factory cars were always finished in silver with either red or black interiors and such is their desirability today, you will need around 5 million dollars to secure an original factory car.

So, isn’t pulling a model designation from its motorsport back catalogue a little cheesy?

Possibly, but the Boxster RS60 certainly draws visual inspiration from this successful racer, all variants being finished in Porsche GT silver, with unique interiors finished either in Carrera red leather with a red fabric hood, or black leather interior with a black fabric hood.

However, rather than just a quick visual makeover, power was increased on the 3.4 litre flat 6 engine to 303BHP, whilst spaced out 19” wheels, PASM and Sports Chrono all contributed to a more focused driving experience than the standard 987 Boxster. And, as a nod to the original cars most successful year in motorsport, it was also limited to 1960 units worldwide, so considerably rarer than a standard car too. With another discreet layer of performance enhancement sprinkled throughout the car, 5 minutes behind the wheel will leave you in no doubt this is a driver’s Porsche. In other words, like the original RS60, Porsche doing what Porsche does best.
