A Porsche that is very significant to many and closed things off, but also opened new doors in Stuttgart. It was the very last 911 that used only air to cool down. It was also the last 911 to be driven by Ferdinand Porsche himself. Four days after the last 993 was born in Stuttgart, Ferdinand breathed his last (air-cooled) breath. R.I.P. hero! Compared to its predecessor (and no, this was not from the introduction leaflet, this time it really was!) the 993 was revolutionary.

Its entire suspension had been sharpened and Porsche introduced the VarioRam system. Something with even more air on revs, for a smooth transition towards the red area of your rev counter, which sits dominantly in the middle of the instrument cluster. Porsche is very good at this. Emphasising the – for an enthusiast – essentials. Driving, experience and emotion. And we can tell you that a manual transmission 993 2S has all the right ingredients.

Ein Porsche, der für viele eine große Bedeutung hat und Dinge abschließt, aber auch neue Türen in Stuttgart öffnet. Es war der allerletzte 911, der nur mit Luft gekühlt wurde. Es war auch der letzte 911, der von Ferdinand Porsche selbst gefahren wurde. Vier Tage nachdem der letzte 993 in Stuttgart geboren wurde, hauchte Ferdinand seinen letzten (luftgekühlten) Atemzug aus. R.I.P. Held! Im Vergleich zu seinem Vorgänger (und nein, das war nicht aus dem Einführungsprospekt, dieses Mal war es wirklich so!) war der 993 revolutionär.

Das gesamte Fahrwerk wurde geschärft und Porsche führte das VarioRam-System ein. Etwas mit noch mehr Luft bei der Drehzahl, für einen sanften Übergang zum roten Bereich Ihres Drehzahlmessers, der dominant in der Mitte des Kombiinstruments sitzt. Porsche ist darin sehr gut. Die Betonung liegt auf dem – für einen Enthusiasten – Wesentlichsten. Fahren, Erfahrung und Emotionen. Und wir können Ihnen sagen, dass ein 993 2S mit Schaltgetriebe alle richtigen Zutaten hat.

Und unsere? Ja, wie du es willst! Aus Deutschland geliefert und vom Zweitbesitzer (einem Holländer, der das Auto seit fast 20 Jahren besitzt), originale 18″ Zoll Turbo-Hohlspeichenräder, Schaltgetriebe, M030-Sportfahrwerk, schwarze RAF-Lederausstattung mit elektrisch betätigten Sitzen und ein Schiebedach!
