Instantly recognisable by its one-piece, curved rear wing, the first-generation 996-type GT3 marks the start of the modern-day Porsche GT lineage. More than two decades on, the likes of the GT2 and GT3 models are icons in their own right, aside from the overarching 911 legend.
In addition to the stiffer and lighter platform that gained uprated suspension and brakes, the ‘996.1’ GT3 recipe was completed by a naturally aspirated flat-six “Mezger” engine. Derived from the 911 GT1 race car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998, the motor made 355 horsepower.
Finished in the classic shade of Guards Red over a black leather and Alcantara interior, this GT3 was delivered on 8 February 2000 via Fast Automobiles, an official Porsche dealer based in Saint-Mandé, Paris. Stamps in the accompanying service book indicate that the car was still living on the outskirts of the capital city through to 2017. Sold via August SA of Ohain, Belgium, the GT3 then joined the Curated Collection in June 2019.
Most recently serviced by Kronos Porsche of Mont-Saint-Guibert in June 2022, this highly desirable modern classic’s odometer displayed 24,095 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. Offered in a rarely seen colour for the model, this GT3 marks the birth of one of Porsche’s greatest dynasties.
